Privacy policy

This page explains what personal information Revolearn holds about you and your child, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are

Revolearn provides one-to-one online tutoring in Maths, English and Science to students across the United Kingdom. We decide how the information described on this page is used, which makes us the data controller for it.

You can reach us by email at revolearnuk@gmail.com, or by phone or WhatsApp on 07949 348441. If you would like a postal address to write to about your information, email us and we will provide one.

What this website collects

Nothing automatically. This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts, and has no contact forms. You can read every page without giving us anything.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs that may include IP addresses, for the security and reliability of the site. Pages link out to WhatsApp and to our Google reviews; once you follow one of those links, that company's privacy policy applies.

What we collect when you contact us

We only hold what we need to arrange and teach lessons:

  • Your name and contact details, and the same for your child where relevant
  • Your child's year group, exam board, subjects and what they are finding difficult
  • Messages between us, including WhatsApp messages, emails and notes of calls
  • Lesson records: the learning plan, attendance, lesson summaries and progress notes
  • Payment records, such as the amount, the date and the bank reference

We do not ask for, and do not want, any information beyond this.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

  • To arrange and deliver lessons. Our lawful basis is the contract between us, or the steps you have asked us to take before entering one.
  • To answer enquiries. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about tutoring.
  • To keep parents informed through lesson summaries and progress notes, as part of the service we provide.
  • To keep financial records. Our lawful basis is our legal obligation to keep records for tax purposes.
  • To protect students where we have a concern about a child's welfare. Our lawful basis is the vital interests of the child, and any legal obligation that applies. See our safeguarding statement.

We do not use your information for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Information about children

Most of our students are under 18. Where a student is under 18, we take instructions from a parent or guardian, we send lesson summaries and progress notes to the parent, and we do not send marketing of any kind to a child. If you would like to know exactly what we hold about your child, please ask.

Who else sees it

  • Your child's tutor, so far as they need it to teach the lessons
  • WhatsApp (Meta), if you contact us that way, and Google, which provides our email
  • The video platform we use to teach the lesson
  • Our bank, and where required an accountant, for payments and tax records
  • Vercel, which hosts this website

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it, or a child's safety does.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to lessons: 12 months from the last contact, if lessons do not go ahead
  • Student and lesson records: 2 years after the last lesson
  • Financial records: 6 years, as HMRC requires

Records of a concern about a child's welfare are kept for as long as is necessary, which may be longer than the periods above.

Keeping it safe

Information is held on password-protected accounts and devices, and is seen only by the people who need it: us and your child's tutor. We ask tutors to keep what they learn about a student confidential.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the information we hold about you or your child
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete information we no longer need to keep
  • Restrict or object to how we use it
  • Send it to another provider, where that applies

Email revolearnuk@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. This policy applies to https://revolearn.co.uk and to the tutoring we provide.
