GCSE Maths Tutoring
GCSE Maths is assessed across three equally weighted papers, one without a calculator and two with, at either Foundation or Higher tier. Our tutoring is built around the specific topics a student finds difficult, rather than working through the specification from start to finish.

What’s important for GCSE Maths.
The aspects of this qualification that most often determine how well a student performs.
Choosing the right tier
Foundation tier awards grades 1 to 5; Higher tier awards grades 4 to 9 from a more demanding starting point. The decision is usually made with the school, and it shapes how a student should prepare.
Fluency with method
Marks are awarded for working, not only for final answers. Students who set out their method clearly protect marks even when they make an arithmetic slip.
Working without a calculator
Paper 1 is non-calculator. Confidence with fractions, percentages and standard form under timed conditions makes a measurable difference here.
Applying skills in unfamiliar contexts
Many questions present familiar mathematics in a worded or multi-step form. Recognising the underlying topic is a skill in itself, and it can be taught.
What we cover.
Lessons concentrate on the areas an individual student needs, rather than working through the specification from beginning to end.
